Members of the community are informed that Mooibank residents are currently (Monday, 10 October) on strike and have closed off the road.
Police and the department of traffic are monitoring the scene. At the moment no vehicle is allowed to make use of the road as residents threaten to attack anyone who attempts to.
According to a resident who asked to remain anonymous, the strike is a retaliation of residents failing the get a response regarding stand allocation.
“A notice was brought to us on Thursday, 6 October, demanding that we evacuate the area, we will do no such,” the resident said.
This morning residents went to the municipality at approximately 11:00 and received no answer. “ We want stands but they were arrogant to us, we won’t allow anyone in here until we get what we want,” she concluded.
