To raise funds for quality education for underprivileged children, Lifting Dreams held a spectacular gala dinner at the Royal Tree spa on Friday, 30 September.

The night’s theme was elegant, and guests wore black and white. With live performances from Chris Steyn and Jan-Meyer Verhoef, guests enjoyed a six-course, fine-dining menu through the night.

Lifting Dreams is a registered non-profit organisation specialising in community upliftment through education. The NPO aims to bring quality education to underprivileged children in South Africa by providing supplementary enrichment programmes at under-resourced schools.

Lifting Dreams provides tutoring, student volunteer opportunities and working professionals with the opportunity to strengthen children’s academic success through English and Mathematics. “Our team gives relentlessly to invest in developing suitable academic content by partnering with the North-West University’s (NWU) Faculty of Education,” Dr Karen Puren, a member of lifting dreams, said.

South African children suffer from stunted growth due to malnutrition in 27 per cent of cases. By addressing nutritional needs, Lifting Dreams further assists children in developing physically and cognitively. Nkosi Bar is a product of Well-spring NPC that provides food bars to act as a ‘nutritional safety net’.

These bars are crammed with the vitamins, minerals and macronutrients needed to prevent nutritional deficiencies. Three of them per week effectively provide the necessary nutrients to prevent malnutrition. Every student of the Lifting Dreams tutoring programme receives a bar after class.
