Two major accidents see four people transported to hospital

One accident occurred near the Sarafina Street turnoff on the N12 and the other on the R501 near Boskop Dam.

Two separate accidents that occurred 50 minutes apart kept emergency services and other authorities busy late last night and early this morning (Sunday, August 16).

The first accident was believed to have been a head-on collision that occurred at 23:40 near Boskop Dam on the R501, about 20km outside Potchefstroom in the direction of Carletonville.

Upon arrival, emergency personnel found wreckage from the vehicles obstructing the road. Passengers were treated at the scene by emergency medical personnel, with one person transported to hospital with critical injuries.

The second accident occurred on the N12 near the Sarafina Street entrance leading into Ikageng at around 00:30.

The accident involved a single vehicle. Three people were found outside the vehicle. Emergency personnel treated the driver and passengers at the scene before they were transported to hospital.
