A 16-year old boy was beaten to death in Ikageng on Friday, 3 March, after being accused of stealing a cell phone.

According to Provincial police spokesperson, Lt. Col. Amanda Funani, members of the community caught the teenager and assaulted him.

“He was badly injured and was transported to Potchefstroom Hospital where he died on arrival due to head injuries sustained during the attack,” added Funani.

No arrests have yet been made.

Funani also added that a murder case has been opened and that the investigation continues.
