Learners were split into four groups with juniors and seniors playing various games and activities in a fun-filled afternoon.
According to the organiser of the outreach, Marieta Basson, the goal was to bring joy and learn more about the benefits of giving back to the community.
“The kids were so excited to make a difference and to be part of the trip. The teachers planned different games and activities beforehand as well. We also provided food and drinks for the kids and it was a great way to interact and to get the learners out of their comfort zone,” added Basson.
HTS’ external outreach program has numerous plans for the year ahead, that could include trips all around Potch to schools and retirement homes for instance.
“We create opportunities for learners to see how they can help those in need. It is a very humbling and rewarding experience,” stated Basson.
