Cancer survivors look forward to hosting an awareness event

Cancer survivors Palesa Mokgosi and MerryGold Moshoaliba have teamed up to host a spectacular cancer awareness event you do not want to miss.

Cancer survivors Palesa Mokgosi and MerryGold Moshoaliba have teamed up to host a spectacular cancer awareness event you do not want to miss. The event is set to take place on 22 April and comprises two sessions.

The first session consists of a prayer walk that starts at the Ikageng stadium at 08:00. According to Palesa, registration for the walk costs R50 for adults and R20 for children.

“While the adults embark on the fun walk, the kids will stay behind at the stadium and participate in fun activities like aerobics,” she explained. During the second session, guests will be treated to a gala dinner at the Madiba Banquet Hall, where guest speakers will share words of encouragement, and an informative session about cancer.

“Having survived breast cancer, MerryGold and I aim to provide attendees with more knowledge about this killer disease,” Palesa explains.

“This will help the uninformed to know what to do and how to support their loved ones after diagnosis.” Palesa adds that it is also important for survivors to gain confidence at the event and to walk away knowing there is life after cancer. All funds collected will be distributed among cancer survivors who are still in treatment in the form of donations.

“Our wish is to make enough money to enable us to possibly ‘adopt’ one person who is living with the disease and pay for their treatment to help ease the stress,” she says.

Those who wish to be part of the event but cannot attend on the day are more than welcome to volunteer their time by helping with preparations leading up to the event. To hear more about this initiative or if you wish to donate, contact Palesa at 076 420 2513.
