A man (30) was murdered in the early hours of Wednesday morning (15 November) on the corner of Walter Sisulu Avenue and Ayres Street.

According to NW police spokesperson, Col. Adele Myburgh, the man and his friend had an argument on their way home from a nearby tavern.

The man was then stabbed in the neck with an unknown sharp object and died on the scene. Myburgh confirms that the suspect responsible for the stabbing was arrested in the morning after the incident took place.

A case of murder has been opened at the Potchefstroom police station.
