Switch explodes in Luitingh Street

A power-related switch exploded in Luitingh Street, Industrial area around 14:47 this afternoon.

The industrial area and a portion of Miederpark has been left without power after the incident.

Municipal workers are on the scene working on the problem. After loadshedding the workers will start to work through everything in stages to find the cause of the explosion.

Madra De Bruin, ward councillor in ward 15 states the following, “The Infrastructure can’t handle loadshedding due to a lack of maintenance on electricity.”

There is no indication as to when everything will be fixed and the power turned back on.
