Missing Angolan man in seek for public’s help

The Letlhabile community is encouraged to remain vigilant and assist law enforcement in their efforts to locate Antonio Leandro Wakankwa and ensure his safe return to his family.

The Letlhabile Police Department is urgently seeking the community’s assistance in locating a 70-year-old Angolan national, Antonio Leandro Wakankwa, who has been reported missing since Thursday morning, May 2, 2024.
According to reports, Wakankwa was last seen by his wife at their residence in Block G, Letlhabile. His wife left for a local clinic, and upon her return around 4:00 PM, Wakankwa was nowhere to be found.
Wakankwa described as wearing a grey jacket, a torn jersey with blue stripes, green short pants, and white slippers at the time of his disappearance, Wakankwa suffers from dementia, raising concerns about his ability to remember his own name or address.
The disappearance of Wakankwa has sparked widespread concern among local authorities and residents alike, prompting a concerted effort to locate him. In a plea to the public, Constable Tshiriletso Ratsola of Letlhabile Detectives has urged anyone with information regarding Wakankwa’s whereabouts to come forward immediately.
“We are deeply concerned for Mr. Wakankwa’s safety and well-being, especially given his medical condition,” Constable Ratsola stated. “Every piece of information, no matter how small it may seem, could prove crucial in bringing him home safely.”
Authorities have provided contact information for individuals to report any sightings or information related to Wakankwa’s disappearance. Those with information are urged to contact Investigating Officer Constable Tshiriletso Ratsola at 082 416 0670 or their nearest police station. Anonymous tips can also be submitted via the My SAPS App on smartphones or by calling Crime Stop at 08600 10111.
