Search intensifies for missing Rustenburg man

Rustenburg police are appealing to the public for help in locating 55-year-old Tankiso Mashesha, who vanished on his way to Lesotho.

Rustenburg police are asking the community for assistance in finding 55-year-old Tankiso Mashesha from Waterberry, Protea Park.

Mashesha was last seen by his daughter on the afternoon of July 25, around 17:00, when she greeted him at the Rustenburg taxi rank as he set off to Lesotho for a funeral.

Later that evening, at about 22:10, he confirmed to his daughter that he was travelling in a taxi and even shared the registration number of the vehicle and the driver’s cell phone number. According to the taxi driver, Mashesha was dropped off at the Maseru border post. However, police investigations have revealed that he never crossed into Lesotho.

Relatives in Lesotho also confirmed that he did not arrive at his intended destination. Despite extensive investigations and numerous leads, his whereabouts remain unknown.

At the time of his disappearance, Mashesha was wearing blue jeans, a brown jacket, and black boots. He is described as fair in complexion, tall and slim, bald-headed, with black eyes, a short beard and moustache.

Anyone with information that may help locate him is urged to contact Investigating Officer Sgt Amukelani Mashimbye on 082 772 9226 or 014 590 4258. Information can also be reported to your nearest police station, Crime Stop on 08600 10111, or anonymously via the MySAPS App.
