CID nabs cable theft suspect

CCTV footage makes a significant difference when it comes to the safety of the community.

CID officers nabbed a man suspected of cable theft on October 6, after he was seen along the railway carrying cables.

Leandro de Beer, manager of Cachet Park Improvement District, says Cachet Park CID NPC Potchefstroom Mooirivier Beskerming officers were dispatched after the suspect was seen on the CCTV cameras but could not locate the suspect at first.

“The stolen cables were later found next to the railway line. A CID officer subsequently located the suspect in Rissik Street and apprehended him, after which the police arrived on the scene and proceeded with the arrest.”

De Beer says with the assistance of Cachet Park CCTV Operators, they protect the community.
