Mooivaal Media announces the appointment of Wouter Pienaar as the editor of the Potchefstroom Herald. He assumes the role in January 2026.

Pienaar returns to the Herald with nine years of experience as a journalist at the publication, where he developed a strong understanding of community journalism and the role local media plays in reflecting the heartbeat of the community.

He joins the newsroom after two years in a management role where he further developed his leadership, strategic planning and digital communication skills.

Pienaar believes the future of local journalism lies in balancing editorial integrity with digital innovation, while maintaining meaningful community connections. His editorial focus will be on preserving the Herald’s trusted legacy while adapting to how audiences consume news.

New sales representative at the Potch Herald

Elsje Erasmus has joined the Herald as a sales representative. Erasmus, who attended school in Potchefstroom, is a well-known face in the town and previously worked as a sales representative at the Herald from August 2024 to mid-2025.

Due to illness, she was required to step down from the role at the time, but following a strong recovery, she has now returned to the Herald.

She is looking forward to making a difference in the community and providing local businesses with an engaging platform to help showcase the very best that Potchefstroom has to offer.

Nuwe redakteur by die Potchefstroom Herald

Mooivaal Media kondig die aanstelling van Wouter Pienaar as die Redakteur van die Potchefstroom Herald aan. Hy neem nou die leisels vanaf Januarie 2026.

Pienaar keer terug na die Herald met nege jaar se ondervinding as joernalis by dié publikasie, waar hy ’n sterk begrip vir gemeenskapsjoernalistiek ontwikkel het, sowel as die belangrike rol wat plaaslike media speel om die hartklop van die gemeenskap te weerspieël.

Pienaar glo dat die toekoms van plaaslike joernalistiek berus op ’n balans tussen redaksionele integriteit en digitale innovasie berus, waar betekenisvolle gemeenskapsverbintenisse gehandhaaf word.

Hy spits hom toe om die Herald se vertroude nalatenskap te bewaar, terwyl daar aangepas word by hoe lesers nuus in ‘n digitale era verbruik.

Nuwe verkoopsverteenwoordiger by Herald

Elsje Erasmus sluit as verkoopsverteenwoordiger by die Herald aan. Erasmus, wat in Potchefstroom skoolgegaan het, is ‘n bekende gesig in die dorp en het ook vanaf Augustus 2024 tot en met middel 2025 as verkoopsverteenwoordiger by die Herald gewerk. Weens ‘n seldsame siekte, moes sy daardie tyd bedank, maar na ‘n goeie herstelpad is sy weer terug by die Herald.

Sy sien uit om ‘n verskil in die gemeenskap te maak en die plaaslike besighede die beste platform te bied om hul produkte en dienste te adverteer.
