Residents will be without water on Wednesday due to maintenance

The planned shutdown will run from 06:00 until late in the evening.

Residents in several areas of Potchefstroom can start preparing for a full-day water interruption on Wednesday, March 25.

This is due to the JB Marks Local Municipality undertaking critical maintenance at the Ventersdorp Road Pump Station.

The planned shutdown will run from 06:00 until late in the evening. According to the Municipality the shutdown is required to allow the appointed contractor to remove Old Pump No. 5 as part of ongoing upgrades to the water supply system.

Areas set to be affected include:

  • Kanonierspark
  • Dassierand
  • Promosa
  • Mohadin
  • All extensions of Ikageng
  • Witrand Hospital
  • SANDF premises
  • The Eersterantjies reservoirs

“Residents in the affected areas are advised to store sufficient water in advance for household use, as water supply will be temporarily interrupted during the specified period. The JB Marks Local Municipality regrets the inconvenience this may cause and appreciates the community’s patience as we work towards a more reliable water supply system,” added JB Marks Municipality spokesperson, Jeanette Tshite.
