Titans end Dragons CSA 1-Day Cup dream

The Dragons could not get enough runs on the board in a rain affected match in Centurion.

The North West Dragons’ bid for CSA 1-Day Cup glory ended on Sunday, 22 March against the Titans at Supersport Park in Centurion when they lost by 8 wickets.

The Dragons needed a victory in a do-or-die match against the Titans in order to qualify for the eliminator against the Warriors.

The visitors batted first and could only make 167/8 in 44 overs against a disciplined Titans bowling attack. Dragons captain, Wihan Lubbe, was once again the star with the bat, hitting a solid 67 off 65 balls. The top bowlers for the Titans were Duan Jansen (3/23) and Neil Brand (2/18).

The Dragons got an early wicket as Callie Fryer picked up his first scalp in list A cricket bowling Lesego Senokwane for 3.

It was plain sailing for the Titans after that dismissal as they cruised to the target to win by 8 wickets. Rivaldo Moonsamy hit 60* (56 balls) with Brand also scoring a quickfire 47 (30 balls).
