Inquest into death of two Ikageng cousins

The cause of the girls' deaths has not yet been determined.

The Potchefstroom police are conducting an inquest into the death of two cousins (aged one and five) in Sonderwater, Ikageng, on Tuesday, April 7.

According to Colonel Adéle Myburgh, provincial police spokesperson for the North West, the two little girls, who were staying with their mothers’ at their grandmother’s house, went to bed on Tuesday evening after dinner.

“The little girls apparently woke up and cried terribly, after which foam came out of their mouths. The parents took them to a nearby clinic at around 9pm, but both children died shortly after arrival.”

Myburgh continued by saying that no cause of death has yet been determined and a toxicology report is still awaiting.
