Promosa content creator chases Top Billing opportunity

Verdú Rademeyer has taken a next step in her media journey with a presenter audition for Top Billing.

In life, you need to make the most of your opportunities and step into the spotlight.

That is exactly what local Potchefstroomer, Verdú Rademeyer, did when she auditioned for the Top Billing Presenter Search competition.

Top Billing, one of South Africa’s most beloved lifestyle television shows, is making a comeback after a seven-year hiatus.

Verdú had to post a video of herself presenting as part of an open casting call, where anyone could audition by uploading a video on social media using the hashtag #TopBillingPresenterSearch.

She chose to showcase a local guest house in Potchefstroom as one of the town’s hidden gems – fitting, as she has spent her whole life in Potchefstroom and has a deep appreciation for the unique qualities that make the town special.

“It was special just to showcase different aspects of Potch. It’s such an underrated place. Once you see what Potch has to offer, you don’t want to go anywhere else. It’s safe and has a warmth to it.”

Verdú grew up in Promosa and attended Promosa Primary School before completing Grade 7 at Laerskool President Pretorius. She then attended HTS Potchefstroom.

During her Grade 7-year she experienced heartbreak when her mother, Carmen Jooste-Rademeyer, lost her battle with cancer.

“My life went downhill in high school. I really struggled to cope with the grief of losing her,” says Verdú, who recommitted her life to Christ over the past few years and was baptised in November 2025.

Her mother always believed in her God-given talent and planted the seed for her love of performing and being in front of the camera.

“My mom signed me up with an agency, Kidz 2000, in Sandton and my love for entertainment and passion for media grew from there. The seeds she planted then are growing now.”

One of the biggest blessings in Verdú’s life is serving at Ubuntu Family Centre in Promosa.

“It’s my childhood church and a fantastic space to use my talents. The church members have also encouraged me to use my God-given gifts. Being part of the church has really rekindled my passion for media and presenting.”

For Verdú, the Top Billing audition is also an opportunity to give God the glory.

Verdú as a young girl. She already exhibited her energetic personality as a child.

“My talents come from Him and I want to show everyone that all things are possible with Christ, if you allow Him to change the narrative.”

In her free time, Verdú enjoys listening to gospel music, spending time at one of Potchefstroom’s many coffee shops, reading lifestyle blogs and watching podcasts. She is also a single mother who cherishes spending time with her son.

She believes anyone can change their life if they are willing to step out of self-pity and hopelessness.

“God restores and honours His promises. You are not alone.”

The next phase of the Top Billing Presenter Search is expected to be announced between July and August.
