Potchefstroom Hospital is appealing to the public for assistance in identifying an unidentified male patient and tracing his next of kin.
The patient, currently recorded as “Five Xolani”, was admitted to the hospital on July 18 after he was allegedly involved in a pedestrian vehicle accident.
According to information received by the hospital, the man was brought to the facility by Emergency Medical Services (EMS) for urgent medical treatment. He received the necessary emergency care on admission and remains under treatment at Potchefstroom Hospital.
Hospital officials said the patient is currently not in a suitable mental state to provide reliable information about his identity, home address, family members or any other next of kin.
Despite ongoing assessments and efforts by the hospital’s social worker to establish his identity and locate his relatives, no progress has been made.
The hospital is urging anyone who recognises the patient or has information that could assist in tracing his family to contact social worker Maureen Sekano on 018 293 4573, 018 293 4640, or 077 603 4588.
