The North-West University’s (NWU) Community and Stakeholder Engagement (CSE) portfolio is inviting community organisations in and around Potchefstroom to apply for financial support for projects that will make a meaningful impact in the community.

Through these partnerships, CSE aims to strengthen existing community initiatives while continuing to build bridges for positive change. Community and Stakeholder Engagement (CSE) is the NWU’s registered welfare organisation and a student-driven community service structure committed to supporting sustainable community projects.

According to Dr Tasleem Sayed, chairperson of the Community and Stakeholder Engagement (CSE) Advisory Board at the NWU, the initiative is rooted in the university’s commitment to investing in the local community.

“We are inviting community organisations to submit funding applications before 17 August. It is part of our community responsibility to partner with organisations that require financial support,” said Sayed.

“CSE is community-driven, with students who are eager to make a difference. There is passion and purpose behind every project we support.”

Sayed said recent initiatives included the 72 Hours of CSE campaign among university residences and Canned Food Day, which took place on 29 July.
She also highlighted a project where a broken jungle gym was repaired through the expertise and resources of students from the NWU Faculty of Engineering.
“It is about making the most of the resources available and helping one another,” she said.

Applications for funding must include the following:

• Front page
• Table of contents
• Description of the project (100–150 words)
• Description of each identified need (100–150 words per need)
• Three quotations for every item or need requiring funding
• Photographs of the needs or items for which funding is requested
