The world’s strongest powerlifters are currently vying to be the best in the world in our back yard.  The first IPF Classic Bench Press Championships is taking place at The Elgro Hotel in Potchefstroom between 14 and 21 May 2016 and participants from 27 countries are taking part.

A team of 49 powerlifters, which includes 32 men and 17 women, are representing South Africa.

At the time of going to print, Team SA has won 5 gold medals, 3 silver and 1 bronze, with our national lifters breaking 3 Commonwealth records and 5 South African records.

Age categories range from sub-junior (under 19) to master 4 (over 70) where youthful exuberance and strong-minded wisdom come together in a world class event.
