The Women’s Proteas stormed to a comprehensive 7 wicket win against Zimbabwe Women at the Puk Oval on Monday, 14 May in a one-sided contest.

Zimbabwe won the toss and batted first looking to get some runs on the board, but Shabnim Ismail had none of this as the Proteas quick took two early wickets, ending with match figures of 4-14.

Suné Luus also impressed with her leg-spin as she took 2-24 with Masabata Klaas taking 2-12. Zimbabwe could only manage 113 all out and that gave SA an easy task with bat in hand.

Mignon du Preez’s unbeaten 22 and Marizanne Kapp’s 16* took the Proteas to victory with a mammoth 172 balls to spare as they made it to 114/3 with ease.

The Proteas play India today (Wednesday, 17 May) at Senwes Park with the match starting at 10:00.
