Gold medals aren’t really made of gold – they’re made of sweat, determination, and a hard-to-find alloy called guts.

The much-awaited annual Triangular Sports Day where soldiers from the Potchefstroom, Pretoria and Heidelberg military sports clubs competed in 15 sporting codes took place at the Sports Grounds of PMSC on Wednesday, 20 September 2017.

More than 1 000 soldiers (including several spectators) participated; the fantastic turnout and the pleasant weather were the perfect boost for the soldiers participating in this annual sports day.

At the PMSC Johan Du Randt Rugby Stadium, the soldiers entered into the spirit of the occasion in a grand way with the chairperson of PMSC, Lt-Col Norman Hartzenberg and Chaplain Melanie Spannenberg opening the day’s activities. An energising message from Chaplain Spannenberg set the tone for the rest of the event, motivating the soldiers to give their best for the glory of their respective clubs.

Once the fifteen sports events had begun, the air was filled with cheering and tons of encouragement for the participants. After a lot of blood, sweat and   tears, the day was concluded with the Pretoria Military Sports Club winning the event, followed by PMSC in second place and the Heidelberg Military Sports Club finishing 3rd.

Congratulations to the Pretoria Military Sports Club on their close,     well-deserved victory.

Final results:

1st – Pretoria Military Sports Club

2nd – Potchefstroom Military Sports Club

3rd – Heidelberg Military Sports Club.
