Potchefstroom will turn into squash city for some of the top junior squash players in the province and country when the North West Junior Open tournament takes place across three venues from 16 to 18 February.
These venues are the squash courts of Potchefstroom Military Sports Club, the Green Meadows Lifestyle Village and the Potchefstroom Country Club.
‘Several u.11 to u.19 players from all over the country will come to participate.
‘This is a perfect opportunity to showcase squash and give the juniors a chance.
We are very excited to host the tournament,’ said Terry Niemack, the secretary of the North West Junior Squash Committee.
She added that this open tournament will give players the chance to get into form ahead of the NW closed fixture on 24 February, which is one of the compulsory tournaments for players to qualify for the SA Championships.
‘We want to promote squash in the province and city and this tournament gives us a great opportunity. Squash players can still enter before the closing date of 11 February.’
Big sponsors like Clover, Nashua, Wimpy, Engen, Squash Buddy and Cell C will also make sure that this will be a tournament to remember. Furthermore, it promises to be a treat for spectators who are looking for fast-paced junior squash action.
The closing date for entries is 11 February.
