The North West Flames made light work of the Eastern Cape Aloes in Brutal Fruit Netball Premier League action today (Sunday, 20 May) with a commanding 62-23 victory at the Ellis Park Indoor Arena.

The Flames had a superb weekend overall as they cruised to two victories with ease. On Saturday, 19 May they polished off the Northern Cape Diamonds, 76-22 to show the front runners that their winning fire still burned brightly.

The match against the Aloes was a formality at half-time with the Flames already in a 34-11 lead. This gave coach Elsje Jordaan’s team the chance to ring the chances, as she brought on her entire bench in various position’s for some game time. This gave the team a chance  to rest some players and to give young players a chance to show their skill level.

Captain, Elsunet du Plessis was on top of the game for the Flames as her goals secured an easy victory. The player of the match was North West Flames centre, Romé Dreyer, who had a fantastic match controlling the game from the middle.

“I think the third quarter was our best quarter. It was a good physical game and we just needed to play our game plan against a physical Aloes team,” said Dreyer in the post-match interview.
