If you ever needed a swimming resume of note, then look no further than Potchefstroom Central School’s Aiden Nel.
During the past swimming season, Nel has competed in twelve swimming galas – nine of these representing the Potchefstroom Swimming Club and three, the North West Province. He received 47 gold, 15 silver and four bronze medals. Aiden has received North West Swimming Colours three years running and NW Best in Age Group Swimmer two years in a row.
In 2018, he also represented his school in short course galas (25 m pool).
In February, he was awarded the Senior Victor Ludorum at the PCS inter-house gala, the best in age group swimmer at the Curro Gala in Klerksdorp and best in age group swimmer at the Mooirivier Prestige Gala at Potchefstroom Gimnasium.
In March, Aiden participated in Lifesaving SA’s National Stillwater Championships in Benoni and was awarded the Lifesaving SA’s Stillwater Victor Ludorum in the age group Boys’ 11 and under. He went on to win the SA Lifesaving Victor Ludorum trophy for boys’ 11 and under at the SA National Championships in Port Elizabeth in April.
As the new swimming season is about to kick off, Aiden is headed to Seattle in the USA for a 10-day training camp with the CAAT (Central Area Aquatics Team) at the Seattle University’s Connolly Center under the head coach, Ken Spencer and the age group coach, Maki Moore.
