The North West Dragons are heading to Cape Town this week (14-17 February) to face off against Western Province in the CSA 3-day Provincial competition as well as the CSA One Day Challenge competition.

The Dragons will look to take down the men from the Cape once again, having done so in the previous two meetings between the two sides in the CSA Provincial One Day Challenge.

The Dragons can count on the likes of constant performances from Richardt Frenz, Lourén Steenkamp, Ruan Haasbroek, and captain, Brady Barends to get them over the line, whilst Lesego Senokwane and Katle Leokaoke will also want to continue impressing this season. In both team’s previos encounter, it was a fine 80 from Frenz that gave NW a 3-run victory.

Interestingly, Western Province’s captain is the former NW Dragons and NWU all-rounder, André Malan and he will most definitely look to score some runs against his former team mates. North West can also keep an eye on former UCT-batsman, Jack Newby as well as Matthew Kleinveldt (cousin of former Protea, Rory Kleinveldt.) Former SA u.19 star, Justin Dill is another Capetonian that the North West Dragons can’t underestimate.

The picturesque Newlands Cricket Ground will be the venue for two pulsating matches.
