No USSA tournaments for the rest of 2020

The National Executive Committee of USSA resolved that all tournaments scheduled for 2020 be cancelled.

The University Sport South Africa (USSA) National Executive Committee (NEC) considered responses received from Member Institutions and National University Sport Associations (NUSA’s) regarding the possibility to host and participate in the USSA tournaments scheduled for 2020, based on the feedback received
and taking into consideration the National Government advice on the current covid-19 pandemic.

The National Executive Committee resolved that all tournaments scheduled for 2020 be cancelled. In view of this decision, the NEC supports the initiatives from the National Department of Higher Education,
Science, Technology and Innovation, Universities South Africa and Higher Education Institutions to rescue the 2020 Academic Year.

The NEC further emphasized that the well-being and safety of all students, university employees, and other support staff are of paramount importance.
It is important that each student-athlete complete the academic year whilst making sure they continue to train and keep active.

USSA as an associate member of the different national federations will continue to work with federations in preparation for the return of competitive university sport.
