Do you remember the NW Dragons taking on England?

North West's top bowler was David Pryke, who took a brilliant 5/34 against the English. 

It was the year 2000 – the NW Dragons were ready to play their first official match at the new Senwes Park venue against a full strength England touring side.

That side included the likes of Nasser Hussain, Andy Caddick and Greame Hick among others.

North West eventually lost to the English by 41 runs in this day night international that took place on 20 January.

England batted first and made 264/9 with Hick hitting an accomplished 77 before NW’s West Indian, Mark Lavine, dismissed him.

North West’s top bowler was David Pryke, who took a brilliant 5/34 against the English.

NW eventually managed to hit 223/8 in reply. The top run getters for the province were Arno Jacobs with 36 and Hendrik de Vos with 30. The best bowler for England was a fresh faced, Graeme Swann, who picked up 2/38 in his 10 overs.
