Potch Dorp Women ready to bounce back after lockdown

"We never stopped praying for all our SANDF rugby girls that were out there on the frontline, fighting for and protecting us.”

he 2020 season has been quite a roller-coaster for the Potchefstroom Dorp Women’s team. It started brilliantly, with a new all-women board and a brand new look. Furthermore, the team was poised to defend their Leopards club championships title, then Covid-19 struck.
Henriëtte Pretorius, the chairperson of the club, states that the club is still positive, despite uncertain times.

“After over 100 days of lockdown, we still have no indication when or if we will be able to compete at club level this year; but we never had a moment of silence in this rugby family. We sent messages to each other; we stayed fit together, we joked together, we laughed together and, most important of all, we prayed together. We never stopped praying for all our SANDF rugby girls that were out there on the frontline, fighting for and protecting us,” emphasised Pretorius.
According to her, the rugby club has also recruited several potential players to the squad. “We have made a lot of new friends to add to this family and added a lot of new potential players to our team. We are right and ready, because, together we can and will be the best team and biggest family you could ever be part of.”
