Warriors pick up crucial win against Cobras

Matthew Breetzke (55 off 71) and Sinethemba Qeshile (64* off 74) steered the Warriors to a respectable total.

The Warriors scored their first win of the 2021 Momentum One Day Cup campaign with a comfortable 81 run Duckworth/Lewis win against the Cobras today at Senwes Park.

Although rain interrupted proceedings in the morning, the Warriors didn’t look affected by the break as they compiled 226/6 in their 44 overs.

Matthew Breetzke (55 off 71) and Sinethemba Qeshile (64* off 74) steered the Warriors to a respectable total. The Cobras though never got off the back foot in their reply as they stuttered to 148 all out. JJ Smuts (3/28), Glenton Stuurman (3/26) and Rudi Second (3/20) were the pick of the Warriors’ bowlers. The Cobras top scorer was Tony de Zorzi with a patient 30 off 45 balls.
