NWU hosts top-quality hockey festival

The 2021 NWU Eagles Hockey Festival was a celebration of top schools’ hockey at the NWU Astroturf last weekend (30 April–2 May).

The 2021 NWU Eagles Hockey Festival was a celebration of top schools’ hockey at the NWU Astroturf last weekend (30 April–2 May).

Seven schools and one NW u.21 women’s team participated in the tournament that allowed players to get back on the Astro in competitive hockey and promote the NWU as a primary hockey destination. Eunice, Hoër Meisieskool Oranje, PHS (Pietersburg), Sasolburg High, St Mary’s, Voortrekker and Volkies Potch participated in round robin matches in two pools.

The final was contested between NW u.21 and Eunice, with the match ending 1–1 after Christa Ramasimong scored from a last-minute penalty corner to level the match.
