The Leopards u.20 side made the short trip up to Loftus to take on the Vodacom Bulls u.20 in round 5 of the SA Rugby Under-20 Cup on Saturday, 18 September.
The Leopards had huge amounts of confidence from their 91-6 win against Eastern Province in Round 4. The Bulls were just too good at Loftus for the Leopards seeing them record a comfortable 39-17 win.
The Leopards had to be at the top of their game if they wanted to walk away with a win and maximum points. This game was always going to be an entertaining one, with both teams loving to run with the ball and backing their own abilities. It certainly lived up to the expectations after a total of 8 tries were scored in this fixture.
The Vodacom Bulls took the lead 20-10 going into the break, after three tries were scored by the home team and one in reply from the Leopards. The Leopards tries were scored by Janco Cloete and Sanele Zungu. The Leopards were still in the game at this time with a full 40 minutes still to play.
The same situation played out in the second half, with the home side scoring three more tries and the visitors replying with one. The Potchefstroom based outfit are still in the playoff spots as they are tied on 12 points each with the Sharks.
