NWU Tawana bag important 2-1 win against Stilfontein Real Hearts

Tawana were trailing 1-0 at half-time but managed to secure all three points thanks to goals from Brian Maleka and Atlegang Mmutlane.

NWU Tawana FC claimed their first win of the 2021/22 ABC Motsepe League NW campaign with a well deserved 2-1 victory against Stilfontein Real Hearts at the Fanie du Toit Sports Grounds today (Friday, 19 November).

Tawana were trailing 1-0 at half-time but managed to secure all three points thanks to goals from Brian Maleka and Atlegang Mmutlane.

Maleka got the first after a routine goal kick from Tumelo Moshodi found the striker in space as he got his boot to the ball before Real Heart’s keeper could commit to the save. The ball rolled into the goal and the game was now up for grabs.

Tawana, now had momentum at their side and came close once, with Maleka just putting the ball over the bat. Mmutlane would be the hero as he scored the winner after a fine cross from Lefa Lebalelo found him unmarked for a tap in at the far post.

Lefa Lebalelo had a great game on the wing for NWU Tawana.

NWU Tawana celebrated wildly after scoring the second goal, full knowing that a solid defensive display would take them to a win.

Overall, Tawana had more chances during the match and put in an authoritative performance, keeping their nerve in the last 10 minutes to seal the win.
