ABC Motsepe League promotion dream comes true for Signal FC

NW Signal FC overcame Cameroon Lions 4-0 before beating Warrior FC 5-1 to book their spot in the 2022/23 ABC Motsepe League.

North West Signal FC are heading to the ABC Motsepe League for the first time in their history after winning the NW Inter-regional playoffs this past Sunday, 5 June at Promosa Stadium.

This is a massive achievement for this Ikageng-based team that was founded in 2011 to be able to compete in the third division of South African football.
Signal FC overcame Cameroon Lions 4-0 before beating Warrior FC 5-1 to book their spot in the 2022/23 ABC Motsepe League.

They are now the second team from Potch in the ABC Motsepe League after with fellow Potch-based team, NWU Tawana FC, also qualified two seasons ago.

Kabelo Majoe, Etien Pieterse (2) and Jerome Booysen scored in the semi-final against Cameroon Lions. Pieterse (2), Warren Greeff, Bokamoso Setshoaro and Kopano Mathopa scored for NW Signal FC in the final.

It is not wonder when the champagne flowed generously after NW Signal FC finally made it after countless disappointments in the playoffs during the few seasons – this time they were not to be denied.
“This promotion is what we wished or a long time. It brings opportunities for players from our communities to play at a higher level,” said an excited Lehlohonolo Moeketsi, technical director at NW Signal FC.

“Our goal for the upcoming season is to maintain our new ABC Motsepe League status and to grow our players and get more good players into our team,” added Moeketsi.

He believes that quality players and squad depth as well as a top management structures has been key to the teams promotion.

“One of the major plans in future is to be leaders in football development. There is a lot of talent in our community and we believe that we can add to that with u.15-u.19 team structures at the club.”
