Korean Martial Arts club bring home medals

Members of the local Korean Martial Arts club competed in the Freestate Korean Martial Arts championship on 23 July.

Master Louise Viviers was also re-elected unopposed as the president of Martial Arts South Africa (Masa), a national federation and member of Sascoc, representing approximately 25 martial arts codes in South Africa.

They include Taekwondo, MMA, Ju-Jitsu, Brazil Ju-Jitsu, Aikido, Tang Soo Do, Muay Tai, Sport Judo, Kurash, Kobudo, RCFA, Sports Martial Arts, SARMAF. Membership is extended to over 250 clubs nationally. Master Louise has been involved with Masa since 2003 and started as the secretary-general at 28. She was elected president in 2012.

This is her third term as the president of a predominantly male- oriented sport. Besides heading Masa, her passion has been teaching her Korean Martial Arts (Tang Soo Do) in Potchefstroom since 1993.
