Dragons bowlers restrict Boland Rocks to 234 all out

Delano Potgieter (4/47) and Eldred Hawken (3/38) got stuck into the Rocks’ batsmen.

The North West Dragons are in a good position at the lunch interval on day 2 of the CSA 4 Day Challenge Division 1 match against the Boland Rocks after bowling the visitors out for 234 at the J.B. Marks Oval.

The match was delayed yesterday (12 February) on day 1 due to a wet outfield. When play got underway, Delano Potgieter (4/47) and Eldred Hawken (3/38) got stuck into the Rocks’ batsmen.

The Rocks could not build decent partnerships as wickets fell at regular intervals yesterday and this morning.

Dragons’ debutant, Juan James (1/38) also got his first wicket with his miserly off-spinners. Duan Jansen (1/35) and Chris Britz (1/12) were the other wicket-takers in the first innings.

The top scorer for the Rocks was Shaun von Berg with a quick-fire 43 (62) as he tried to salvage some pride after the top and middle-order failed.

The Dragons are currently 4/0 in reply in their first innings with Lesego Senokwane and Grant Mokoena at the crease. A solid batting performance and a big lead will definitely put the Dragons firmly in the driver’s seat.
