Clash of the Giants will see rugby excellence at Boys High

Six schools, unrivalled action and rugby tradition will meet at Potchefstroom Boys High on Saturday, 7 March.

Rugby fans can mark Saturday, 7 March 2026 on their calendars and book their spot at Potchefstroom Boys High for the Clash of the Giants Rugby Festival.

This rugby festival will see hosts, Potchefstroom High School for Boys, battle it out against five other participating schools including, Klerksdorp Hoërskool (KHS), Parktown Boys’ High School, Klerksdorp Technical High School, Sasolburg High School and HTS Sasolburg.

The main events of the day will be the first team clash between Potch Boys High and Sasolburg High School on the A-field (Gevers) at 12:30. A battle between the Spanners of HTS Sasolburg and HTS Klerksdorp will take place at 14:00, before the programme concludes with a match between KHS and Parktown Boys High.

Mohau Mohlahleli, sports coordinator at Potchefstroom Boys High, came up with the idea to give recognition to Boys High’s rugby and partner with other schools in order to grow the sport.

“We don’t have a North vs South derby (inter-provincial) like other schools. Schools from Klerksdorp and Joburg do not always play against each other at school level and only compete at provincial level. My plan is for boys to get opportunities at school level and build relationships,” stated Mohlahleli.

The event in partnership with the Leopards Rugby Union is a fantastic space to grow the game and start a tradition at Boys High that not only benefits the school, but rugby in the province at large.

The younger age groups from u/14, u/15 and u/16 levels will also participate in this rugby festival and showcase their talents.
