Licence office open on weekends only for PDP applications and licence renewals

Due to the Covid-19 backlog, the licence office is open for the first three weekends in November (7/8, 14/15 and 21/22) only for PDP applications and driver's licence renewals

Due to the Covid-19 backlog, the licence office is open for the first three weekends in November (7/8, 14/15 and 21/22). On Saturdays and Sundays from 08:00 – 13:00 only the following transactions will be processed:

  • Driver’s licence renewals
  • Professional driving permit (PDP) applications

In a previous post, the Herald mistakenly interpreted the PDP applications as driver’s licence applications due to different terminology that was used in the news release of the J.B Marks municipality. Therefore, please note that driver’s licence applications are not done on weekends. This weekend services will also end on 22 November.

For the renewal of a driver’s licence, applicants must bring along:

  • A valid eye test certificate,
  • Any acceptable ID according to the NRTA definition,
  • R222 + R84 if a temporary licence will be needed
  • Two ID photos.

To apply for a professional driving permit (PDP), applicants must bring along:

  • A valid eye test certificate
  • Acceptable ID according to the NRTA definition
  • R226 (first issue)
  • R222 + R84 (for card application and temporary licence)
  • 1 x ID photo
  • Doctor’s medical certificate

All the applicants are also requested to wear masks and bring pens to avoid sharing.
