‘Crazy’ day as people order in their favourite fast foods

While many customers tucked into their favourite restaurant foods, McDonald's and Burger King said they would open full service as soon as restrictions were lifted.

For the first time in months, South Africans yesterday sank their teeth into hamburgers, hot chips and chicken – among some of their favourite dishes. Describing government’s move for restaurants and fast-food outlets to open for deliveries as having yielded “positive results”, Restaurants Association of South Africa chief executive officer Wendy Alberts described yesterday as “crazy”. “This is what people have been longing for,” said Alberts.
