Mr ADT talks safety
Mr ADT visited Blairgowrie Primary School to teach the pupils about safety.
Entertainer Darrin McDowall, better known as Mr ADT , visited the Blairgowrie Primary School on 11 November to teach the pupils about home safety.
The show is a complimentary service offered by ADT Security to pre-primary and primary schools. The topics McDowall covered included: medication and poison; dangers in the kitchen; electricity; fire; the danger of playing with guns; dogs and home invasion.
McDowall also spoke about what is ‘good touching’ and ‘bad touching’, how to use a panic button, never to open the door for strangers, the importance of knowing one of your parents’ contact numbers – and other emergency numbers such as the number for the security company and the police.

Blairgowrie Primary School Grade R head teacher Denise Stoltz said McDowall had come to their school for the past four years to teach pupils about safety. “He has been extremely successful and he really makes an indelible impression on the children by using humour to enhance his safety message.”
ADT Managing Director Clive Humphrey said that in South Africa there is no escape from crime. “Children are never too young to be educated and made aware, in a non-threatening manner, of the dangers that exist in our society. They need to be empowered to be able to protect themselves in a dangerous situation. McDowall has a fun, friendly way of addressing these pertinent issues. He has found the perfect balance, as the show keeps the children informed and entertained while reinforcing valuable safety tips.”
Mr ADT shows are free to schools.
