The Cresta Shopping Centre the Cancer Association of South Africa shavathon, with a great flashmob zumba dance to surprise the crowd.
The Zumba flashmob at Cresta shopping centre was a success.
It was part of the Cancer Association of South Africa’s (Cansa) shavathon in association with Highveld stereo 94.7 which broadcast live.
“The flashmob went really well. We hope people enjoyed taking part in the flashmob and watching it,” said Robyn Tserpes, one of the organisers of Dancefun studio which hosted the flashmob.
The flashmob was directed by licensed zumba fitness instructor, Alicia Toumilovitch who had created a mix of fast beat and great songs.
The intention of this flashmob was to raise awareness about cancer and promote zumba as a physical activity. “Zumba fitness is a Latin-inspired cardio-dance workout that uses music and choreographed steps to form a fitness atmosphere,” said Tserpes. “While many of the types of dance and music featured in the programme are Latin American inspired, classes can also contain everything from jazz to African beats to country to hip-hop and pop.”
People of all ages, shapes and sizes were part of the Cresta flashmob. Tserpes added, “If you like fun music and can shake your body, then you will enjoy this fun way of exercising.
“The dance steps were really easy and accommodated professional dancers and those who do not know how to dance. All this was done in a duration of six minutes,” concluded Tserpes.
