Cosmo City siblings receive support from ActionSA
Light is finally shining upon the Mahlinza-Nqalo siblings as they receive donations after being financially exploited by those around them.
After ActionSA stepped in to help the Mahlinza-Nqalo siblings, in Cosmo City Ext 4, following years of financial exploitation since the passing of their father and mother, on July 26 donations poured in of a new mattress, a portable stove, pillows, and a new bed cover by the political party.
One of the tenants, who is renting in the Mahlinza-Nqalo home, has already paid his rent for the month, and promises to do so even after the political party leaves. He mentioned that it was wrong of him to take advantage of the situation that the siblings are in. The other tenants noted that they will pay their rent when the month comes to an end.

Leader of the local party Sello Mabelebele mentioned that more stuff is yet to be delivered to the siblings’ home, and that they will not stop until the house is fully furnished with all the essentials they might need. “We’ve bought the siblings’ groceries, to ensure that they have something to last the month until we come back. Then we’ll see if the other tenants have paid as well, so that we can fix a few things in the yard.

“Currently, there is no fence surrounding the yard. There is a passage, making it a hotspot for people to get robbed. The neighbours have complained about this passage as well, so, when the owner of the tuckshop pays up, we are going to get a fence to close the passage, so people can start feeling safe again.”
However, the biggest issue for the siblings, is the fact that they still do not have ID cards, which has prevented them from going to school or looking for jobs. Mabelebele noted that they are in talks with social workers about the issue, but it is taking time.
They had hoped that when colleges open up for their third semester, they could enroll one of the siblings for a course, which would help him, and take him off the streets of Cosmo City. Unfortunately, that is something that is taking time. They would appreciate it if anyone from the Department of Home Affairs could assist them regarding this matter.
More donations are set to come to the Mahlinza-Nqalo home as time goes by, and there are pleads for anyone who might have old but usable furniture, or anything that might be of use in the process of renovating the Mahlinza-Nqalo home, to contact Sello Mabelebele on 067 646 8721 for donations.
