The playing hall was beautifully set up, with rows of chessboards neatly arranged and ready for battle. As each round began, the hall was quiet, except for the sound of chess pieces moving across the boards. The young competitors showcased remarkable concentration, confidence, and strategic thinking as they carefully planned their moves.

Woman Fédération Internationale des Échecs (FIDE) master (WFM) Chloe Badenhorst attended the prestigious tournament. WFM is an official world chess title awarded by the FIDE. She praised the tournament, saying that it is important as it provides a platform for girls to showcase their skills. “It’s important to have a space where young girls can improve their skills, while having fun with one another. There are a lot of participants, which is great to see. We also need more of these tournaments, so that we can motivate young girls.”
