Police to launch awareness campaign

In order to fight crime, I believe that we must join hands and do it together.

Criminal incidents are on the rise in Westonaria.

According to Westonarias SAPS spokesperson, Constable Thembi Masango, burglary, and theft of, as well as out of motor vehicles are particularly troublesome for police.

According to Masango, in order to address these crimes, the Westonaria SAPS is set to embark on a massive crime awareness campaign on 23 November ahead of the festive season and residents are urged to join in.

According to Masango, traditionally criminal incidents increase during the festive season.

“It goes without saying that during the festive season, criminals tend to be out and about trying their luck.

“They too want their Christmas bonuses and we must prevent that by all means.

“We must make sure that we keep safe at all times and never leave anything to chance, says Masango.

She adds that during this time, police officers will be interacting with the community and will also be handing out pamphlets with safety tips on how to protect themselves and their properties.

This will be done through a roadshow and a door-to-door campaign.

“In order to fight crime, I believe that we must join hands and do it together,” says Masango.
