Police inspect schools for dangerous weapons

Only one pocket knife was confiscated during the Randfontein Police's general safety awareness campaign and visit to several local schools.

The Randfontein Police visited numerous local high schools on Monday, 20 May to make sure learners are not in possession of dangerous objects or weapons.

The focus was also on general safety on the school grounds and in the teaching environment.

“The Randfontein Police Social Crime Prevention Unit was accompanied by West Rand District Constables, Sector Managers and representatives of the Department of Education when they searched students,” Sergeant Carmen Hendricks, the Randfontein Police spokesperson, said.

Thuto Lehakwe Secondary School and AB Phokompe Secondary School in Mohlakeng, as well as Randfontein Secondary School in Toekomsrus, were visited during the awareness campaign.
