Police hunt two men following gang rape

Identity of two suspects released following rape incident on the R28 between Krugersdorp and Randfontein.

The Krugersdorp Family Violence Child Protection and Sexual Offence (FCS) unit has released ID kit pictures of two suspects following a rape incident near West Village on the R28 between Krugersdorp and Randfontein in April.

According to Captain Raymond Sebonyane, the Krugersdorp Police spokesperson, the victim was heading home to the Makhulumaga informal settlement somewhere in West Village when two men suddenly appeared from the bushes. “They grabbed her and forced her into the bushes nearby. Both suspects were armed with knives, robbed her of her cash and took turns raping her. One of the suspects slapped the victim in the face and instructed her not to scream. They then fled the scene on foot,” Sebonyane said.

Sebonyane added that the victim could only identify the suspects by means of an ID Kit. “Both suspects spoke English, both were approximately 1,6m tall, both were of medium build and dark in complexion. They were both wearing khaki pants and are estimated to be in their late 20s,” Sebonyane said.

He said the suspects are still at large and the public is requested to come forward with any information that could lead to their arrest.
