The Cluster Police made close to 100 arrests for various serious crimes committed on the West Rand during the weekend.
Sergeant Carmen Hendricks, Randfontein Police spokesperson said the successes came as a result of various operations police members as well as different law enforcement agencies held in the district.
Suspects were arrested for crimes ranging from murder, possession of a substance or substances suspected to be drugs, assault with the intent to do grievous bodily harm, possession of mine property, possession of stolen property, possession of counterfeit cigarettes, illegal liquor trading, theft, business burglary and robbery, malicious damage to property, vehicle theft and theft out of a motor vehicle, possession of gold-bearing material, housebreaking and theft, rape, undocumented immigrants, drinking and driving, possession of dangerous weapons – and the list goes on.
“All the suspects are expected to appear in their respective Magistrates’ Courts soon,” Hendricks said.
