Young boxer’s dream cut short in Toekomsrus mass shooting

Remembered as disciplined and determined, Romano's life and ambitions ended far too soon in the deadly shooting.

The Otto family is mourning the tragic loss of 20-year-old Romano Theo Otto, an aspiring boxer and the youngest victim in the recent mass shooting in Toekomsrus that claimed four lives.

Otto is the second victim to be publicly identified following the shooting, after 21-year-old Delwyn Dickens.

On June 19, four people were killed in a shooting in Toekomsrus Ext 4, with police hunting for suspects who fled the scene after opening fire.

Described by his family as disciplined, respectful and determined, Otto had dreams of building a better future through boxing. His parents have spoken of the devastating impact of his death and are appealing to authorities for answers as the police investigation continues.

Gauteng police confirmed that a murder case with four counts remains under investigation and has urged anyone with information to come forward.
