Financially, No More Tears Animal Rescue has taken a hit due to the numerous animals they have helped over the last few months. They are currently in debt of over R40 000 while their kennel account is at R25 000.
“Juanita Marx and Breggie van Loggenberg from Spiffs decided they would like to hold a fundraiser for us to raise money,” said volunteer Clarisse Kruger.
This fundraiser aimed to get the community involved for awareness and support.
Clarisse further mentioned the fundraiser could also help raise funds for the animals in their care and monthly vet bills.
During the fundraiser, each Easter egg sold had a specific number. Residents who bought the eggs threw their numbers into a box. These numbers will be revealed during a lucky draw on April 22 to see who will be the winner of a hamper valued at R1 800.
This hamper includes:
• Durbanville Hills Collectors Wine (the collection includes wines named after Cape Town landmarks, such as the Cape Garden Chenin Blanc, The Cape Mist Sauvignon Blanc, The Cableway Chardonnay, The Lighthouse Merlot, The Promenade Pinotage, The High Noon Shiraz and The Castle of Good Hope Cabernet Sauvignon) donated by Ryan Diesel
• Geelvet Biltong hamper (biltong, droëwors, Rooibaard sauce, Ina Lessing jam, Terbodore Coffee, spices and snacks)
• Two No More Tears Easter cups, Easter eggs and two Easter bunnies.
