New ‘leash’ on life for Wally and Nala

A family changed the lives of two best friends after adopting both of them into a loving, forever home.

Once overlooked and left for dead, Wally and Nala’s tails are now wagging with joy after a kind-hearted family opened their hearts and home to give them the love they’ve longed for.

In April 2024, No More Tears Animal Rescue came across a dog roaming the streets. After many attempts to find the dog’s owners, No More Tears’ plea fell silent. They eventually decided to keep the dog at their shelter to give him the care he deserved. Consequently, they named him Wally.

In July that same year, the organisation found Nala (another dog) tied to a fence with chains. According to Clarisse Kruger, Nala was chained so tightly that she could barely move her head. With open arms, the organisation welcomed Nala to their sanctuary.

Even though both of them spent a long time at the shelter, Wally and Nala became inseparable as time they spent together. Finally, a family had adopted Wally; however, that left Nala without a companion.

Nala was found chained to a fence by the No More Tears team.

Clarise mentioned it kept bothering the family that they separated Wally and Nala. Eventually, the family returned to take Nala home with them.

She added both of the dogs adore cuddles and soak up every bit of affection, but what truly brings them to life is the joy of chasing each other around.

“Both of them are doing exceptionally well at their new home.

The most beautiful part of it all is that they started as friends in the kennel and now they get the chance to live together in a forever home,” Clarisse happily expressed.

She shared that there are thousands of animals in need of homes while waiting for someone to love them.

“These animals are being kept in shelters, not because they did something wrong, but because their owners had to move, struggled financially, or just could not give the needed care. Many of these animals are loyal, loving and waiting for someone to give them a home again. Adopting an animal from a shelter not only saves that animal’s life, but you also make room in the shelter for another animal in need. So you’re helping two animals with one decision.”

Nala is now happy and living her best life.

She emphasised there is something special about an animal that knows you saved them.

They’ve often experienced hardship: Rejection, abandonment or even abuse. And yet, when you give them a second chance, they give you their whole heart back.

“That love is different – it’s deep, sincere and unconditional,” she concluded.
