Healthcare worker feeds community on her birthday

Seeing the hunger in her community, healthcare worker Rose Ngoasheng celebrated her birthday by serving hot meals to those in need.

Resident and healthcare worker Rose Ngoasheng decided to celebrate her birthday by giving back to the community, with the help of her colleagues and friends.

“I realised we are blessed and fortunate in our position. I decided I want to give back as much as I have been given,” said Rose.

She explained that she works at a nearby clinic and closely with the community. Over time, she noticed how many residents struggle with hunger. This inspired her to host an outreach event where they provided meals to residents. They initially expected about 150 people, but more than 200 showed up.

Rose thanked her friends, family, and colleagues who supported her initiative, as well as Greenhills SPAR, who donated the food, and the Gauteng Department of Health.

“It was a great success. I would like to do more and make the outreach even bigger next year,” concluded Rose.
